What this notice covers

This notice explains how Ankara.com handles personal information when you browse the guide, create an account, save places, contact us or send information about a business. It does not cover the independent websites, booking tools or social platforms we link to.

Information we receive

We collect information you choose to provide and limited technical information needed to operate and protect the service.

• Account details such as your name, email address, password in hashed form, verification status and security settings.
• Saved places and the time you add or remove them from your account.
• Names, email addresses and message contents submitted through our contact form, including business, correction and press enquiries.
• Routine server and security records, which may include IP address, browser information, requested pages, timestamps and error details.
• Cookie and preference data described in our Cookie Policy.
• When Google Analytics is enabled, aggregate usage data such as page views, searches, filters, listing interactions, saves, shares, contact outcomes, authentication methods, directions, outbound destinations and media interactions. Analytics events do not include contact-form contents, email addresses, passwords or phone numbers.

How we use information

We use personal information to provide accounts and saved places, answer enquiries, review corrections and business submissions, secure and troubleshoot the service, comply with legal obligations and improve the reliability of Ankara.com.

We do not sell personal information. When Google Analytics is configured, we use its reports to understand which guides and features are useful and where visitors encounter friction. Analytics cookies are optional, while advertising storage and personalisation are disabled.

When information is shared

We may use service providers that support hosting, email delivery, storage, security and similar operations. They receive only the information needed for that work and are expected to protect it. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service, or as part of a business reorganisation where lawful safeguards apply.

When enabled, Google acts as an analytics service provider and processes analytics events according to its own service terms and privacy safeguards.

A message asking us to contact a listed business is not automatically forwarded to that business. If sharing your details would be useful, we will ask or make that purpose clear first.

Retention and security

We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose collected, account administration, security, record-keeping or legal requirements. Retention periods can differ: an active account is kept while it is in use, contact correspondence may be retained to resolve the enquiry, and security logs are generally kept for a shorter operational period.

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security. Please use a unique password and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Your choices and requests

You can update core account information and remove saved places through your account. You may also ask about, correct or request deletion of personal information by emailing info@ankara.com. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where law or legitimate security and record-keeping needs require it.

You can decline optional analytics cookies in the cookie banner. To revisit a saved choice, clear the ankara_cookie_consent cookie and reload the site.

If information is processed or stored outside your country, we take the protections required for that processing into account. Your rights can vary according to the law that applies to you, including Türkiye’s personal-data rules.

Children and changes

Ankara.com is a general city guide and is not designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact us so we can review it.

We may revise this notice as the service changes. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be presented through an appropriate notice on the service.
