The pairing can work beautifully, but only when the guide resists flattening two distinct areas into a single historic quarter. Think of the day as a connection between public streets and officially documented cultural places, not as a boundary drawn by a travel brochure.

Give the citadel area its own time

The Museum of Anatolian Civilizations is a particularly useful anchor because its official listing confirms the institution and supplies current visitor information. Its collection ranges across Anatolia; it should not be described as merely a museum of the immediate neighbourhood.

Outside, let the streets provide observation rather than unsupported anecdote. Look at gradients, sightlines, changes in building fabric and the relationship between the citadel and the modern city. If a historical claim matters to the route, tie it to the responsible heritage sources.

Treat Hamamönü as a separate chapter

Do not imply that every traditional-looking building is open to the public or that all streets share one restoration history.

The transition between the two areas is part of the day, but it is not proof that they form one administratively defined neighbourhood.
